Removal of Taney statue at State House sends message of change

Annapolis’ statue of Roger Brooke Taney has garnered controversy for years.

In the early 1990s, there were calls to take the statue down — and again in 2000, 2007 and 2016.

But each time, the statue withstood the efforts for its removal. Until last week.

Annapolis police search for missing teen

Annapolis police are asking for the public’s help to locate a critically missing child last seen on Chinquapin Round Road on Thursday evening.

The missing 16-year-old girl is Destiny Riffle. She is 5 feet 4 inches, with red/brown hair, weighing approximately 200 pounds.
